STAY IN BED JUST A LITTLE WHILE LONGER. THERE ARE BENEFITS TO WAKING UP SLOWLY...
Do you ever find yourself in a loop when it comes to getting up in the morning. The alarm kicks off and you roll out of bed before fully waking up, in a rush to begin the day and start ticking off the ‘to dos’. Or reaching for the phone and getting straight into emailing and Instagram. Well, here are a few good reason to stop the loop madness and embrace waking up slowly!
Take A Moment To Breathe + Stretch it Out
I know that this can seem like an over indulgence, especially if you have a lot on your plate, but, spending an extra few minutes waking up in bed can actually make you more productive overall. I mean as long as you don’t fall back asleep again!
In the hustle-bustle of life, many of us can get caught up going a million miles an hour and forget to take a moment to breathe and take stock of our day ahead. Instead of jumping out of bed and getting straight to it, take a moment to have a good stretch, focus on your breath and clock how your body is feeling.
Coming Up With New + Unique Ideas
Bed isn’t just a place to sleep, it can be a place of blooming ideas and hatching plans.
In the moments between sleep and wake, as our mind wanders, we are more open to new ideas, resolutions and intuitive decisions. This is when our brains are at their most creative. Embrace the flow of your mind in these moments and do not rush it. This is when solutions and the best ideas can form. It is always good to keep a notebook beside your bed dedicated to brain dumping in the mornings. When an idea starts to flow, write it down so that you can revisit it later.
These magical eureka moments won’t happen every morning but you will be ready when they do. Another way to use this time is to think about what you are grateful for - focusing on things that you cannot buy. This is one of the simplest ways to promote happiness and to start the day on a positive note. One serving of gratitude is highly recommended each morning before you get out of bed.
Start With a Clear Head + Plan Your Day
Rather than thinking about worries from the day before, try to focus on setting positive intentions for the day ahead. This is a new day. The aim is to practice manifestation by sending these intentions out into the universe and willing them into reality through thoughts, actions and beliefs. This is a great way to start the day off on the right footing.
Take some time to visualise your day ahead. How is it looking? What do you have on? Who are you meeting? What do you need to talk about?
Define your most important goals for the day. "If I can achieve XYZ it will be a good day!" Don’t go overloading yourself. Make sure that it is achievable. Think about what the perfect outcome for your day is. Visualise it and create one affirmation around it.
... And lastly, stay in bed for a few more minutes in your comfy pyjamas and give yourself some ‘me’ time. Trust me, it absolutely works wonders!
