DID SOMEONE SAY FACE MASK - MOON + MELLOW COLLABORATE WITH FAMILY CARERS IRELAND
Moon + Mellow started as a dream and thanks to you it has become a reality. We are so proud of what we have achieved in our first year. We started out with a very small collection and a plan to expand our range with new prints and sleepwear styles. So, we cannot wait to launch the second collection in August and show you what we have been designing these last few months.
But ahead of this we want to let you know about a new product that we have been working on. We are absolutely delighted to introduce our Limited Edition 100% Organic Cotton Face Masks which we are launching today in collaboration with Family Carers Ireland.
As we were preparing to start production on our latest collection we had a lightbulb moment. We’re not ones to create waste here at Moon + Mellow and as we strive towards a greener future we have designed the perfect everyday accessory, Face Masks, from offcuts of the finest organic cotton from the new collection of prints. We also wanted to raise much needed funds for a charity close to our hearts.
The last few months have been really challenging for everyone. Our home and personal lives have been affected with lockdown restrictions, schools closures, cocooning and changes to our work life and environment. Everyone's lives have been put on hold.
The very last social event that I attended before lockdown was a fundraiser organised by a friend of mine who works for Family Carers Ireland (FCI). The personal stories that I heard on the day really struck a cord. People putting their own lives on hold every single day, year in year out, to look after their loved ones. With very little governmental support.
When we decided to collaborate with a charity for the launch of our face masks, FCI were at the front of my mind. We have all found the last few months difficult. Someone recently described it to me as a 'covidcoaster'. Everyone experiencing varying levels of ups and downs along the way. But for the family carers across Ireland this lockdown has exacerbated the already extremely difficult circumstances they are in.
We here at Moon + Mellow want to share with you some of the personal stories of the incredible carers living in our communities, to raise more awareness of FCI and the work they are doing to support our carers and to bring you details of this wonderful collaboration.
FCI is the national charity dedicated to supporting the 355,000+ family carers across the country who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones such as children or adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, frail older people, the terminally ill or those suffering from chronic illnesses or addiction.
Since Covid-19, Family Carers Ireland has had to reposition how they support family carers, who have been one of the most vulnerable cohorts during this pandemic. With schools, day services, home care packages and respite nearly all cancelled without any light of re–opening, it has never been more important to support the people who dedicate their lives to supporting others.
Moon + Mellow Face Masks
Our face masks are made in the finest organic cotton and are decorated with our original hand painted prints. They are reusable and washable and one size fits all. They have a double layering of fabric which is folded for extra protection and comfort.
